Trade unions participated in a traditional large exhibition

On February 2 education and career exhibition „Studies 2017“ was held in Lithuanian Exhibition Centre LITEXPO. Thousands of students, pupils from senior classes and their parents visited this traditional exhibition.

Lithuanian Trade Union Confederation (LPSK)  youth team also participated in this event for the first time.

Lithuanian trade unions participated in a civil action against ratification of CETA agreement

On 21 January a  theatricalized civil action "Bye, aunty CETA“ was held in Vilnius, near the European House, which was intended to inform Lithuanian public about the threats of The Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).

Trade unions urge MEPs not to support CETA agreement

On 18 November Lithuanian trade unions in contribution with local representatives from European Iniciative against TTIP and CETA have sent a letter to the members of the European Parliament with a request to support an appeal to the European Court of Justice seeking to clarify whether CETA prospective Investment Court is in line with European Union law. Trade unions also have called on MEPs to act and encourage the fulfilment of the democratic expectations on the European Parliament to scrutinize CETA.

Lithuanian Parliamentarians rejected President's veto on the New Labour Code

On September 14 the Lithuanian Parliament has decided to reject the President‘s Dalia Grybauskaitė veto on the new Labour Code (LC).

74 MPs voted for a proposal to adopt the new law without the President‘s provided corrections (i.e. for the version which is much worse for workers), against – 39 and 10 MPs abstained.
