Key discussions on utilities sector challenges were held in Brussels

  • On March 4th in Brussels, the European Public Service Union (EPSU) held its 62nd Utilities Committee meeting, addressing major challenges in the European utilities sector:
  • Clean Industrial Deal – what does it mean for workers?
  • Just Transition Directive – how to ensure a socially fair transition?
  • Water Resilience Initiative – will water remain a public good?
  • Circular Economy Act – a sustainable future for the waste management sector.

A new study was also discussed, revealing how large industrial companies prioritize shareholder payouts over investments in the energy transition.

In the meeting, Vice-President of the Lithuanian Industry Trade Union Jurga Subačiūtė-Žemaitienė presented Lithuania’s perspective on the current challenges in the water supply sector.
