A meeting with labor law experts from Lithuania and Norway took place in Vilnius

On June 26, in Vilnius, at the conference center of the Artis Centrum Hotel, a round table discussion of the international project “Improvement of Social Dialogue in Lithuanian Industrial Enterprises” was held. It was attended by representatives from Achema, Naftininkai, Electricity Transmission Network, Ltd “Šilutės šilumos tinklai” trade unions.

Introductory speech to the participants was given by Dalia Jakutavičė, the interim head of the Lithuanian Industry Trade Union Federation (LPPSDF). The event was moderated by Jurga Subačiūtė-Žemaitienė, the project coordinator and the deputy chairwoman of the LPPSF.

A Lithuanian expert in labor law, Prof. Dr. Daiva Petrylaitė and a sociologist, analyst at the “Enterprise Lithuania” Marius Kalanta, presented the results of their analysis of the collective agreements of LPPSF members.

Also collective bargaining mechanisms in Norway were presented by Catherine Ulvøy, an international expert at the Norwegian trade union Fellesforbundet.

Later participants of the meeting discussed a preliminary training plan for the negotiating teams. It was decided to mostly focus on improving the legal techniques and negotiation skills of trade union representatives. It was also planed to concentrate on a deeper understanding of the content of collective agreements and aspects of social law in the workshops.

The trainings are expected to begin as early as next fall.
