EPSU NEE Constituency Meeting in Riga

On 4-5 September The European Public Service Unions (EPSU) NEE Constituency Meeting takes place in Riga. Representatives from Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Poland, Georgia and Armenia are attending the meeting. The Lithuanian delegation includes Dalia Jakutavičė, President of the Lithuanian Industry Trade Union.

The meeting was welcomed by Latvian trade union representative Juris Kalnins, EPSU General Secretary Jan Willem Goudriaan and Yurii Pizhuk, President of the Ukrainian Civil Servants’ Trade Union.

The meeting provided an overview of the overall situation in the region and in individual countries in the context of local and international developments, discussed membership recruitment activities and challenges, and presented news from the EPSU Youth Network.

Jan Willem Goudriaan spoke about the European Commission’s political guidelines and the Council’s strategic agenda, the EPSU resolution on the financing of public services.

The meeting also gives participants space to discuss and share best practices, challenges in their organisations, social dialogue, etc.

In addition, nominations for the EPSU structures – EPSU Executive Committee, Women’s/Gender Equality Committee, Youth Network, etc. – will be approved.
