A seminar on the renewal of trade unions is taking place in Riga

The European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) is hosting a seminar on “UnionPower – Trade Union Renewal” in Riga on 16-17 October.

This is one of five regional thematic seminars for trade unions in the Baltic States. Participants will explore common challenges and opportunities and delve into practical tools and methods to strengthen trade union activities – from membership growth and collective bargaining to the development and implementation of civic campaigns.

The seminar was opened and participants were welcomed by ETUC Confederal Secretary Tea Jarc, a representative of the Latvian Free Trade Union Confederation (LBAS).

Colleagues from the German trade union ver.di, the European Trade Union Institute (ETUI) and the ETUC will also deliver presentations.

The event will also include open discussions aimed at exchanging experiences and finding common solutions to strengthen the influence of trade unions at both national and European levels.

The Lithuanian Trade Union Confederation is represented at the training by: Dalia Jakutavičė – interim head of the LPSK, Aleksandras Posochovas – chairman of the Lithuanian Service Sector Workers’ Trade Union, Audrys Antanaitis – chairman of the Lithuanian Journalists’ Union, Sonata Samoškienė – chairman of the Oil Workers’ Trade Union, Ramutė Stanislavavičienė – member of the Achema Workers’ Trade Union Council.
