On October 6-9, a delegation of the Danish trade union 3F visited Vilnius.
The guests met with representatives of the Lithuanian Trade Union Confederation. The meeting discussed the challenges of organizing trade union members, employee representation practices, the similarities and differences in ensuring social guarantees and employee rights in Lithuania and Denmark.
Later, the 3F representatives visited UAB “Elektrėnų kommunalinis ūkis”, where they met with the temporary manager of this company, Greta Sinkevičienė, who presented the company’s activities and current issues of cooperation with the trade union. And the chairman of the local trade union Gediminas Kriščiūnas spoke on the benefits of the collective agreement.
UAB “Elektrėnų kommunalinis ūkis” is one of the companies that sincerely cares about employees through benevolent social dialogue, the collective agreement establishes additional guarantees for all employees, including benefits provided only to members of the trade union.
The Danish delegation also visited the UAB “Paroc” factory. It is an international manufacturer of stone wool insulation solutions operating in many European countries. “Paroc” is part of the “Owens Corning” corporation. It currently employs 260 people.
During the visit, the guests met with the factory manager Tadas Narankevičius and human resources specialist Lina Macaite, who presented the factory’s operational strategy and goals, and future plans. There was a discussion about employee involvement in the activities, their working conditions, employee safety and health, attracting young specialists, and social dialogue.
This company pays special attention to the safety and health of its employees – among the main goals is to ensure that there is not a single accident at work. It also aims to automate production processes, which is why significant investments are being made in new technologies and processes are being digitized.
