A meeting of representatives of the Baltic and Nordic trade unions took place in Vilnius

On September 30th and October 1st a meeting of representatives of industrial trade unions of the Baltic and Nordic countries took place in Vilnius, which brought together colleagues from Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Latvia, and Lithuania.

Lithuanian industrial trade unions were represented at the meeting by Dalia Jakutavičė, Chairwoman of the Lithuanian Indsutry Trade Union Federation and Acting President of the Lithuanian Trade Union Confederation, her deputy Jurga Subačiūtė-Žemaitienė and Marija Varasimavičienė, President of the Lithuanian Metalworkers’ Trade Unions Association.

The participants discussed the current issues, challenges, experience, and trends of trade union activities in each country, discussed organizing strategies, future prospects for trade union organizations, and shared insights and guidelines.

J. Subačiūtė-Žemaitienė presented the situation in Lithuania at the event. She reviewed current issues related to wages, social reforms, collective bargaining, etc.
