Participants of the FUTURE WORK project (Working for the Future: Decent Work for a Competitive Economy) visited Oslo on 21-23 March. The purpose of the visit was to share good practice in the field of decent work with Norwegian colleagues. Jurga Subačiūtė-Žemaitienė, Vice-President of the Lithuanian Industry Trade Union Federation was visiting Oslo together with representatives from the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists and the State Labor Inspectorate.
It included a visit to the headquarters of the Norwegian trade union federation „Fellesforbundet“. Discussions were held with partners about the Norwegian model and its adaptation to the challenges of the 21st century, the nature and extent of workplace innovation in Norwegian companies, and the impact of social dialogue on employees involvement in the workplace.
Also industry companies were visited and their products were introduced, as well as meetings were held with managers and employee representatives.
These companies are unique because they have a strong social dialogue between management and trade unions, combined with a high level of involvement of employees and their representatives.
The development of an innovative workplace and the costs and implementation processes of such workplace were discussed with the representatives of the companies.
A meeting with representatives of the Norwegian Employers’ Confederation was also held. Employers‘ representatives provided information on the Norwegian Lean system and its application in the workplace.
The FUTURE WORK project is being implemented to strengthen the concept of decent work in Lithuania. It is carried out by the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists together with its partners – the Lithuanian Industry Trade Union Federation (LPPSF), „Fellesforbundet“ – the Norwegian Trade Union Federation, and the State Labor Inspectorate (VDI).
