Lithuanian trade union community mourns the loss of Juozas Neverauskas

With deep sadness we inform that on September 4th, Juozas Neverauskas, the President of the Lithuanian Industry Trade Union Federation (LPPSF), died after fighting a serious illness. He was at the age of 71, and had been leading this organization for 14 years.

J. Neverauskas had an engineering education, and was a long-term employee of Lithuanian television (LRT). In 1975, he led the staff of the central hardware, and later was the Director of the television. In 1995–1996, he temporarily held the position of the General Director of the LRT, and was the Chairnman of the LRT trade union.

Since 2007, J. Neverauskas has been the head of the Lithuanian Energy Workers’ Trade Union Federation, and since 2012 – the President of the Lithuanian Industry Trade Union Federation.

“Juozas was an extraordinary personality. Sensitive, warm and always had progressive ideas for the future. He was my teacher, we all will miss him a lot. The whole trade union community mourns this big loss, ” said Dalia Jakutavičė, interim head of the LPPSF.

We express our deepest condolences to the family and relatives of J. Neverauskas at this painful moment of loss.
