Lithuanian unions have reached the goal: Labour Code will be re-examined

On September 10 Lithuanian unions held a protest action which aim was to appeal parliamentarians to approve President’s Dalia Grybauskaitė veto on the new Labour Code (LC) which was speedily adopted on the end of June.

Protesters also urged MPs to adopt balanced and to all the partners of social dialoge maximally acceptable LC.

Finally Trade unions efforts were not in vain: 95 MPs voted for the proposal the LC and the accompanying amendments to be discussed again, meanwhile for the proposal to keep the law taken – 23 MPs.

The issue of the Lithuanian Labour Code will be discussed again in the Parliament on September 14. Representatives of trade unions are going to monitor the meeting and the discussions of the MPs in the meeting room.
