On September 14 the Lithuanian Parliament has decided to reject the President‘s Dalia Grybauskaitė veto on the new Labour Code (LC).
74 MPs voted for a proposal to adopt the new law without the President‘s provided corrections (i.e. for the version which is much worse for workers), against – 39 and 10 MPs abstained.
On September 10 Lithuanian unions held a protest action which aim was to appeal parliamentarians to approve President’s Dalia Grybauskaitė veto on the new Labour Code which was speedily adopted on the end of June.
Protesters also urged MPs to adopt balanced and to all the partners of social dialoge maximally acceptable LC.
95 MPs voted for the proposal the LC and the accompanying amendments to be discussed again on September 14, meanwhile for the proposal to keep the law taken – 23 MPs.
