On June 11-12, 2022, the traditional 26th Lithuanian Industrial Workers’ Family Sports Games took place in the recreation center “Energetikas”, in Šventoji. It was attended by around 800 industrial workers and their families from all over Lithuania.
17 teams from the heat industry, chemical industry, energy and other companies took part in the games. A delegation from the Danish trade union 3F also attended the event, with representatives taking part in some of the matches.
The most resultative team – Achema
Participants competed in various individual and team competitions: sport fishing, national and family volleyball, rope pulling, log cutting, running in various age groups, hurdles, relays, etc. This year, the teams’ favorite competitions returned back to the Games: mega-ball and beach football.
The Achema team was the best by winning 29 prizes. The second was the team of UAB Elektrėnų komunalinis ūkis: it won 25 prizes. The third was the team of Kauno Energija AB (19 prize places).
The Electricity Distribution Operator (ESO) team also performed well. They managed to win 12 prizes. The participants of the “Ignitis gamyba” were also successful.
The evening program included national motives
The opening of the Games traditionally took place on Saturday morning. The participants lined up for a festive procession, the accent of which was the national symbols of Ukraine and Lithuania. The aim was to support the Ukrainian workers and all the people of Ukraine thus showing solidarity.
Participants were greeted by Dalia Jakutavičė, President of the Lithuanian Industry Trade Union (LPPSF), Inga Ruginienė, Chair of the Lithuanian Trade Union Confederation (LPSK), Valdas Lukoševičius, President of the Lithuanian Association of Heat Suppliers, Goda Neverauskaitė, representative of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), and Jorgen Erik Kozak Nielsen, representative of the Danish Trade Union 3F.
The awarding ceremony of the winners took at the end of each match. 46 cups and 116 gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded. The children who took part in the running races also received a special medal. The winners of the children’s relay – the ESO team – were awarded special prizes by the Lithuanian Trade Union Confederation.
This year, the favorite Saturday evening program of the participants returned back to the event. A large group of participants danced the Lithuanian folk dance “Oira Oira”, and music was played according to the participants’ wishes throughout the evening.
Congratulations again to all the winners and prize-winners, thanks to all the participants of the Games, supporters and the assistant team!
