LPPSF Council decisions: from new members to strengthening regional representation

On February 27, a regular meeting of the Council of the Lithuanian Industry Trade Union Federation (LPPSF) took place in Vilnius.

The Council members unanimously approved the membership of  Cleaning Services Workers Trade Union in the Federation and the delegation of this organization’s Council representative, Laura Vikanė, to the LPPSF Council. This trade union unites 32 cleaning service workers, and its chairwoman is colleague Birutė Daškevičienė.

The Federation’s representatives to the Council of the Lithuanian Trade Union Confederation were also approved: Sonata Samoškienė (Oil Workers’ Trade Union), Gediminas Kriščiūnas (UAB “Elektrėnų komunalinis ūkis” Workers’ Trade Union), Jurga Subačiūtė-Žemaitienė (Construction Workers’ Trade Union) and Marijus Vozniakas (Lifosa Workers’ Trade Union).

The Council members, together with LPSK lawyer Evelina Šilinytė, examined practical labor law issues, especially the application of collective agreements, the peculiarities of information and consultation of trade unions, discussed problems arising in companies, wage trends, and shared the current issues of employee representation in industrial enterprises.

Amendments to the LPSK statutes were also discussed in view of the approaching VIII Congress of this organization. Special attention was paid to the representation of regions on a national scale, the need to maintain and strengthen existing regional trade union structures was expressed.

The meeting examined membership issues, assessed the implementation of the 2025 financial report and approved the 2026 budget and the regulations of the XXX Sports Games. Structure of trade unions and its principles of operation and significance for the representation of employee rights was discussed.

The Council preplanned priorities of activities and events for the year 2026 , discussed the need to organize young workers and emphasized the need for training of new trade union leaders.
