On 26 February 2026, the Nordic IN Coordination Group meeting was held in Stockholm and remotely. The meeting discussed key issues of European industrial policy and guidelines for regional and international organizational cooperation.
The main focus was on the European Industrial Strategy, especially in response to the decisions of the IndustriAll Europe on support for industrial sectors, especially the automotive industry. The discussions emphasized that it is necessary for the Nordic countries to form a united position in order to reconcile an ambitious green transformation with industrial competitiveness and the preservation of stable jobs.
The participants of the meeting also reviewed the new European Works Council Directive, which is planned to enter into force on 2 January 2028 (with a transitional period until 2 January 2029).
In order to strengthen organizations, issues of attracting members were discussed. An initiative to create a “memory bank” was presented – a platform designed to collect and systematize both successful and unsuccessful experiences of membership recruitment strategies. This tool will allow organizations to learn more effectively from the mistakes and good practices of colleagues.
An important part of the agenda was a discussion on youth inclusion. Specific initiatives were discussed on how to strengthen the role and influence of young members in both European and global trade unions, ensuring the renewal and continuity of organizations.
Lithuania and the Baltic States were represented at the meeting by Jurga Subačiūtė-Žemaitienė, Vice-President of the Lithuanian Industry Trade Union Federation.
