Published: Saturday, 29 April 2017

On April 28th, Lithuanian trade unions action was held in Vilnius, near the Government on Kudirka Square.

Also smaller pickets took place near the headquarters of the employers' organizations.

The main slogan of the action was "We demand a pay rise, healthy and safe jobs!"

Representatives of Lithuanian Trade Unions Confederation, Trade Union „Solidarumas“ and The Union "Sandrauga“ gave their speaches. Unfortunately, Government representatives, who earlier had promised to speak, didn‘t come out to meet the participants of the protest action.

With this action Lithuanian trade unions expresses solidarity with the European campaign Europe needs a pay rise – it's time for our recovery.

Also the World Day for Safety and Health at Work was commemorated. Employeers who perished at work were honored by a minute of silence (it is important to note that 45 workers died in workplaces during the year 2016). Safety helmets and black baloons symbolised the deceases. Red balloons were as a symbol of seriously injured employeers.

At the end of the action all balloons were released in to the sky.
